Delete your CommunoApp account

Warning: this cannot be undone

You can delete your account yourself, from inside the CommunoApp app. Deletion happens immediately when you confirm it. There is no grace period, no recovery window and no way to undo it — not by you, and not by our support team. Once your account is deleted, it is gone permanently.

How to delete your account in the app

  1. Open CommunoApp and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile.
  3. Tap Delete Account (directly above Logout).
  4. Read what will be deleted and what will be kept.
  5. Tick the acknowledgement checkbox.
  6. Type the word DELETE to confirm.
  7. Enter your account password.
  8. Confirm on the final prompt, Delete my account.

Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out.

If you’ve uninstalled the app

Account deletion is done inside the app, so you’ll need to reinstall it:

Reinstall the app and delete your account

Reinstall CommunoApp from the App Store or Google Play, sign in, and use Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and entirely in your hands — you don’t have to wait for us to process anything.

Reinstalling does not create a new account or restore anything. Your existing account is exactly as you left it, and deleting it removes it permanently.

If you can’t sign in, use Forgot password on the sign-in screen to get a one-time code by email, then set a new password and continue. If you still can’t get in, see if you still can’t delete your account at the end of this page.

Before you delete: things that may block it

In three situations the app will refuse to delete your account and tell you why.

These aren’t faults. Each one has a fix, and once you’ve done it, deletion works normally.

1. A community you created still has other members

Communities you created are deleted along with your account, so every other member must be removed first.

What to do: open the community’s member list and remove the remaining members, then try again.

2. You’re the only admin of a community you joined

If you joined a community that you didn’t create and you’re its only admin, deleting your account would leave it with nobody in charge.

What to do: make another member an admin first, then try again.

3. Your account is a super administrator

These are internal accounts and can’t be deleted from the app.

What to do: ask us to remove it — see if you still can’t delete your account at the end of this page.

What happens to your communities

  • Communities you created are deleted along with your account, together with their content.
  • Communities you only joined are not affected. Only your membership is removed.

What is permanently deleted

All of the following is deleted and cannot be recovered:

  • Your name, email address, phone number and profile photo
  • Your bio, birthday, gender, address, hometown and dietary preferences
  • Your skills, interests and volunteer badges
  • Every community you created, along with its content
  • Your membership of every other community
  • Your notification settings, saved devices and push registrations
  • Your notifications, and your place in every chat conversation
  • Your privacy settings, and any accounts you have blocked
  • Your password and all signed-in sessions

Your profile record is anonymised: your name, email, username and all personal details are irreversibly overwritten.

Your email address is released, so you can use it to register a new account later if you want to. That new account has no connection to the deleted one.

What is kept, and why

A small amount of information stays, because removing it would damage other people’s records. None of it identifies you.

Content you shared with communities you joined

Posts, events, polls, votes, comments, reactions, RSVPs and service requests you created stay visible to those communities, shown as “Deleted User”.

Why: this content belongs to the shared history of communities you didn’t own. Removing it would delete other people’s context — a poll would lose its votes, an event would lose its attendee list.

Messages you already sent

Messages you sent stay in the recipient’s conversation.

Why: they are the recipient’s copy of a conversation they took part in.

Security logs

Security logs are kept for abuse and fraud investigation, but they are stripped of identity, location and device details. These records are de-identified — they no longer point to you.

Why: legitimate security interest.

How long data is kept

  • Your personal data is removed immediately, at the moment you confirm. It is not retained for any period.
  • The items above have no fixed deletion date. They are either de-identified (security logs) or belong to other people’s records (community content, delivered messages), and are kept for as long as those records exist.

If you still can’t delete your account

If the steps above haven’t worked — you can’t reinstall the app, you can’t sign in, or your account is a super administrator — we will delete your account for you.

How to ask us

Email support@claretcode.com from the email address on the account, with the subject “Account deletion request”.

We verify every request before we action it. This is to make sure that nobody else can delete your account by pretending to be you.

Deletion requests sent this way are completed within 30 days. Deleting the account yourself in the app is immediate, which is why it’s worth trying the steps above first.
